Recently I received a solicitation from a right wing organization, promoting their newsletter, The American Sentinel. Normally I just chunk this type of junk in the round file, but this one caught my attention. At the top of the literature in bold red letters was, "Are you prepared to survive the coming terrorist biological (germ) warfare attacks on American cities?" Even this bold statement wouldn't have affected me, except a few weeks earlier I received a mailing about "Weapons of Mass Destruction" (WMD) from the state to our fire department (for those that don't know, I'm a volunteer fire fighter). The WMD document was serious stuff--then the newsletter offer comes along! The important part is that the newsletter offer included a FREE copy of a book by Duncan Long and co-authored by S Spencer Jones, titled "Bioterrorism: Secrets for Surviving the Coming Terrorist Germ Warfare Attacks on U.S. Cities." When I say free, the newsletter subscription was $79 for a year and the book free--I wanted the book. I first checked around and found out that the book was out-of-print and the only way for me to get a copy was to subscribe to the newsletter. (We are now carrying this book, see below for ordering information.)

Duncan's book tells why this attack is about to happen, includes an interview with former CIA microbiologist Larry Harris, has a list of 120 U.S. cities likeliest to be hit by a biological attack; includes cheap, effective do-it-yourself protection against biological agents; tells how to decontaminated yourself and your home; and what biological agents are likely to be used. Plus there are seven appendix chapters that discuss sources for the products recommended in the book. I recommend you read it.

In Duncan's book he recommends a number of things to do to avoid being exposed to a biological attack, and products and devices to help you should this horrible event occur. After reading the book I decided to gather together as many of the items as I could and make them available to our customers. The following are those items we either already had in our product offering, or that I was able to develop sources for. There are still several other items that I'm still trying to get lined up, so you may want to bookmark this page and check back occasionally.
